Pros & Cons

Expert Score
Good things
The fact that the Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with stock Android ensures it will receive faster updates. The phone offers decent imaging performance and even supports 4K video recording. The overall performance and battery backup of the phone are also impressive. The included fingerprint scanner is accurate and fast, and the addition of the IR emitter and Mi Remote app is more than welcome.
Bad things
Sadly, the build of the mi A1 is not as strong as expected. It is also quite slippery. The signal reception was below average on this phone. Furthermore, camera quality degrades in low-light conditions.

Dec 19, 2018 - Mi A1 Users Not Allowed to Roll Back from Android Pie, Xiaomi Explains Reason
Xiaomi explained the reason behind barring the Android One device from rolling back to previous versions is the "many irreversible updates to the system" that came along with the Android Pie update. The company posted the explanation on its MIUI forum post. Xiaomi is seemingly using the same Android Pie beta anti-rollback for the Mi 8 device. The same anti-rollback protection was used for the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro for its MIUI updates. Other devices which also come under the anti-rollback policy include the Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite.

It supports Qualcomm 3.0 quick charging but it doesn't come with a fast charger.
Which one is best between Mi A1 and Coolpad Play 6?
Answer by bhardwaj.rakesh17, 13 months ago
I am using Mi A1. So I can tell you only about A1. It has Awesome Dual camera, in portrait mode, the image looks like crispy & clear as DSLR. No phone beats MiA1 camera in this price range. The display is quite interesting; Battery Backup is around one day for normal use like 1 or 2 hrs gaming all day and internet surfing etc. MiA1 does not support the Fast charge. But the charger is quite impressive. Selfie camera is quite disappointing in low light or night outs. It is ok in natural lights. There is Gorilla Glass protection. In my personal opinion go for Mi A1. You can get it in just 12000/-

Never buy Mi products because even if your mobile is in warranty period, they will not consider. My mobile is under warranty and customer service centre has not accepted it, as there were some scratches on the body and rest is your decision. I was forced to pay inspection and other charges.
Answer by mahesh2081993, 12 months ago
My only dilemma is with the front-facing camera. Because I've used 4 Mi mobiles like Note 4, Prime. The image is too close while taking the pic.
Answer by belkhedesunny, 12 months ago
Go for Honor 8 if you prefer a better camera.

Which one is better between Samsung On Max and Mi A1?
Answer by rayapalli9, 13 months ago
I don't know much about Samsung On max. In my perspective, Mi A1 is better as it is a stock Android phone with better features like camera, Snapdragon processor, better RAM and storage, etc. I'm using this mobile for the past seven days, and I didn't find any issue. The phone is not getting heated even after using 4G and camera.
Answer by ca.vishalgupta, 12 months ago
Samsung On Max must be the first choice.

Is this mobile best to buy?
Answer by mcgurpreet4, 11 months ago
According to the price point, it is giving telephoto + wide angle lens. The same technology is being used by Apple to give depth effect to photos. But in low light, it needs some improvements. For the price and the performance, it is the best mobile to buy.

Of course, it's the best for that price. Now, it's better to upgrade to Mi Note Pro for more features.
Answer by dheerajsharma1294, 11 months ago
Surely, it is not the best as long as there is a phone called OnePlus 5T, but it is best in 15k.
Answer by bhardwaj.rakesh17, 11 months ago
It depends on your needs, you can also try Mi Note 5.

Which one is better between Oneplus 5 and Mi A1?
Answer by sidharthbiswas2012, 14 months ago
Mi A1, because in the natural lighting, it is far better and photos are much good at its price range. In Mi A1, you will find a mode for portrait shot that you won't find in OnePlus. If you compare selfies, then Mi doesn't even stand a chance. In comparison to the price, Mi is a boss in the camera segment
Answer by jiten.verma07, 12 months ago
Both can't be compared as there is a huge price difference between them. And obviously, OnePlus 5 is better than Mi A1.
Answer by dinpadshiv1811, 12 months ago
Both have excellent features, but Mi A1 is somewhat better than OnePlus 5.
Answer by fazle.akhter2000, 14 months ago
For the OnePlus price range, OnePlus is better.

Well, first of all, my review is after intense use for ten days. To be honest, I have never expected Mi phones to be so good. It's just like hot cake which you got for free. Well, my experience is too awesome. I am going to list some pros and cons.
Pros:
1) Build Quality is magnificent, feels so great in hand.
2) The display is very bright; there isn't any problem with the bright sunlight.
3) Camera, Dual Camera with the telephoto lens which captures pictures similar to DSLR in the Portrait mode.
4) Gaming experience is awesome with no lags, i.e., after playing high-end games like PES, NFS No Limits, and Shadow Fight 3.
5) Music is another factor in which it shines. The 3.5mm jack of this phone has got the best audio output.
6) Timely updates for every month.
Cons:
1) Lack of Selfie Flash.
2) Fast Charging is not enabled, but it doesn't have much effect.
3) 3080 mAh battery lasts almost for 6 hours to 6 hours 30 minutes with the screen turned on.
4) FM radio is disabled on this phone.
5) The highest temperature I have seen is 37.5°C via CPU-Z app.

Overall Review: You won't find a better phone than this in this price range. At ₹14,999, it is the best you can get and also it gives competition to high budget smartphones.

The screen is handy, and the camera is really good. Overall, the mobile performance is excellent. Very good stock Android experience. The battery is not sufficient to run for a complete day. Mobile is curved and slippery, so one has to take care while holding it in hands.

If you like photography then go for it. It's one of the best camera phones.

Awesome phone with one of the very good cameras. The only problem is the battery which could have been better. Rest all are good at the given price.

Bad mobile.

Its performance is not good. I have purchased a new Mi A1, and Mi says it has Gorilla Glass on the screen, but my screen broke on the second day. It's very bad.
